Milestone 1 Complete!

Its been an awesome first month of the project, heres a checklist of the completed things this month.

Milestone 1
  • Establish Blog.
  • Establish background documents for playable races/classes.
  • Establish gameplay 'essence' document.
  • Create character sheets with blurb for artists to create concept art.
  • Establish initial website layout.
  • Establish forum.
We got everything done, but STILL having problems with our web host GOD!! hopefully we should be all good to go TODAY and the forum will be up.

So what does this mean ?

Well, it means NEARLY all the document writing and admin stuff is complete, so our foundation should be rock solid going forward - were almost at the fun part which to be honest is what we enjoy the most to do which is make art stuff!

Heres the target for May!

Milestone 2
  • Develop skillset outline for playable characters.
  • Define simple mutators for playable characters.
  • Concept sheet for Argenti male and female complete.
  • Unreal Engine 3 setup on both our machines.
  • Character pipeline established and dummy character complete & playable in UT3.
  • Visual theme for blog, website and forum established and completed.
  • Logo for Skulk n Daggers complete.
Tally ho for the new month! And heres hoping weel have the forum up and online in a couple of hours! *prays to the mySQL gods*

Playable Characters!

Tuesday 21st April:

We've now brainstormed general ideas and shaped those into 3 playable races:

Argenti: A race of Giants, with a primordial urge for shiny things!
Trismagista: A race of humanoids that have devoted their lives to communicating with matter!
Cirrus Dei: A race of small folk with a penchant for inventions and contraptions!

Will now move on to making up a character reference sheet for the other 2 races and again post everything up for reading / viewing on the forum.

We hope to flesh each of these races out visually and present the development process for all to witness!

The forum will most likely be very rudimentary to begin with, something that works - though we definately plan on shaping it into something that fits with the Skulk N Daggers theme!

Mood Pieces Ahoy!!

17th April:

Have been hard at work writing, and blocking out the main backgrounds for the inhabitants. Have written up a background story for the heavy class characters and about to begin work on the other 2 classes.

This blog is still undergoing some visual changes and adjustments, but will hopefully take some good solid shape in the near future!

We have a got a forum up and running, but are just waiting to hear back from our ISP for some technical issues weve run into with hosting! - Ah the joys of wanting to get something done PRONTO!

Meanwhile, the kind Dr. Chee Ming Wong has already begun to start crafting out some mood pieces to start building up the essence and sensation that we will be trying to establish here. Its truly an honor to have him donate his help to the project!

Heres the first piece, a Giant under siege, has stumbled into the den of some bluborous dungeon keeper who orders some of his henchmen to attack! Enjoy!!

I urge you to check out Chee's work he's nuts! His Blog and his Studios Website!

Welcome!

14th April:

Over the last two weeks we have brainstormed ideas / directions and narrowed those down to just one. Skulk N Daggers!

From those many discussions, we have put together a basic summary PDF for the projects foundation and overall design direction, we will be using this as a central reference point for everything arty that we create.

We like to think of it as a measuring stick, so anything we create we go back, read the document, try to immerse ourselves in what we imagine the project to be, and then see if what we are making, fits. If not - were on the wrong track!

I'm working on some reference sheets for the one of the playable classes, and then an accompanying character description doc which will be used to provide a general direction for that particular class, a helpful starting point for a concept artist!

All concept art and characters used in the reference sheets are for inspiration only, we did not create nor do we own the art, merely use them for inspiration when creating our own characters.

Heres where the Heavy character reference sheet is at currently:

Steph's working on prettying up this blog, and figuring out the setup of the forum, which is a tough job, so how this place looks and feels will be mostly her domain!

We will make all images and documents available as soon as we get the forum up and running!
